🍦 Ice Cream Social
When: Late August
Mark your calendars and join us after school for some cold treats, entertainment and more! The ice cream social is a great way for incoming SurfRiders to get to know our wonderful school community and for returning SurfRiders to reconnect with friends after the Summer break.
🎃 SurfRider Spooktacular
When: Late October
Get ready for spooky family fun! You won’t want to miss spooky games, music, food, face painting, a haunted house and so much more!
🎪 Family Carnival
When: April
Join us for food, cotton candy, games, face painting and more! This springtime event is so much fun for the whole family. Watch for opportunities to volunteer on Konstella.
⛺ Hills Family Campout
When: Typically in Spring
Pitch a tent, make memories, and enjoy a magical night under the stars—right on the Del Mar Hills campus! The Hills Family Campout brings SurfRider families together for an evening of pizza, games, a movie on the field, and breakfast the next morning. It’s one of our most beloved community events and a great chance to connect, unplug, and enjoy the outdoors with fellow families.
🍻 HillsFest Parents’ Night Out
When: November
Mark your calendar and text the babysitter! Our amazing parents’ night out will be at Karl Strauss Brewery. In honor of our beloved school turning 50, our theme this year is 1975. Throw on some satin bell bottoms and join us for food, music, and a silent and live auction to raise funds for our PTA!
🌍 WorldFest
When: February
During this community-favorite event, families explore and celebrate the different cultural backgrounds that make up the Del Mar Hills community. You can participate by hosting a table representing your family’s culture with food, art, pictures, music, or a traditional activity. Sign up to represent a country, state or ethnic group of your heritage, or that you have visited and would like to represent. Displays can be as simple or elaborate as you want and everyone is welcome to volunteer with friends to host tables together. Fun!
❄️ Winter Concert
When: December
Cozy up in the Del Mar Hills amphitheater to celebrate the season with our SurfRiders. Our incredible Steam+ music teacher, Alexa Edwards, works with each class to prepare them for performing a song at the Winter Concert. There will be a small reception following the performance.
🎤 Talent Show
When: Typically Spring
Calling all performers! The talent show is an unforgettable evening of SurfRiders sharing their talents and courage on stage. Come enjoy singing, dancing, musical performances and more!
The talent show is hosted by our beloved Steam+ music teacher, Alexa Edwards, and 6th grade emcees. Rehearsal for the talent show is mandatory so look for updates about dates and times on Konstella and in the Sleet Surf Report.
📚 Scholastic Book Fair
When: Early March
SurfRiders look forward to the Scholastic Book Fair all year! Scholastic brings in bestselling series and characters that kids love from over 100 publishers.
🎗️Red Ribbon Week
When: Late October (National Red Ribbon Week)
This week Del Mar Hills will celebrate Red Ribbon Week! Each day we will practice a new healthful habit to support our wellbeing. These practices may include: demonstrating self-compassion, getting sufficient rest, nourishing and moving our bodies, and connecting with our SurfRider community.
💛 Kindness Week
When: Late January (Aligned with Great Kindness Challenge)
This week Del Mar Hills will participate in the Great Kindness Week Challenge. The PTA will organize activities to promote and celebrate being kind.
🍩 Staff Appreciation Week
When: May
Staff Appreciation Week is our opportunity to show some love to our wonderful teachers and staff at Del Mar Hills. The PTA fully sponsors Staff Appreciation Week and provides an array of treats throughout the week including breakfast, coffee, snacks, lunch, desserts and more! Keep an eye on Konstella for opportunities to get involved.
🏃Master Sports
Field Day
When: May
Master Sports brings traditional field days to another level with fun games and relay races, highlighted by signature attractions like Rally Pedal Kart Racing, the Mega Dodgeball Arena and an inflatable obstacle course. Each class will rotate through every station. Please make sure students come prepared by wearing sneakers, a Del Mar Hills t-shirt, and bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated. 🎓 Sixth Grade Promotion
When: Last Day of School!
The PTA hosts a reception for our sixth grade SurfRiders and their families following their promotion ceremony. Come for the Martinelli’s and VG’s Donut bites and stay for the laughter and connection!
